I had never heard of this type of conure before either, but as soon as I saw it, I was in love. They're SO beautiful! I really can't wait. :) Thanks for the wonderful comment! I'll keep everyone posted and share pics whenever I get them.

awesome!! Pics won't do me any good personally, as I'm blind, but I'm sure everyone else will love to see them!! i'd love a description of your new birdie, though.

Which breeder are you getting your baby from? I know of one breeder that's local to me that breeds them and most of the pyrrhuras.

I'm getting my baby from "Something Cheeky" just outside of Raleigh, NC. They breed most of the pyrrhura variations, including the really uncommon ones such as the black-capped, Hoffman's, rose-crowned, grey-breasted, rosiefrons, and painted conure. :)

hehehe, yep, I know Phil! He's exactly the breeder I was thinking of who lives not too far from me. I run into him at shows all the time. :)

Hah! Small world! :D That's awesome that you know them! I came across their website back in December and I've been really impressed with them so far. They seem to really have a good thing going on. I haven't talked to Phil much but I've corresponded with his wife Quiana by phone and email a few times and she's a really sweet lady. :)

Crimsons are a type of pyrrhura conure (same family as green cheeks) but their personalities are said to be more laid-back, affectionate, cuddly, and less nippy than GCCs. My breeder actually said they're a lot like suns, but without the noise level (which is awesome for me, because I really wanted a sun for their personality but couldn't handle the LOUD).

Lol! That's the exact same thing I heard about dusky conures (aratinga weddellii) before I got one, and exactly why I picked my Kappa. :)

You know, I was torn between a dusky and a pyrrhura (our comment exchange in my last post got me looking closer at duskies and they really are an awesome species). I thought of Kappa a lot. :)
