Reginald doesn't say anything too loudly, but he knows what different phrases get him. For example, when he's too lazy to fly to me but wants my attention, it's "Step up step up step up step up."
my bird still doesn't say anything, and he's not found of human contact, but he loves it when we go to his cage and talk or sing to him. he shifts his head from side to side and listens.
The only thing Kappa tries to say is "good girl," but she has many different chirps and body language that have meaning. I guess rather than her learning human, or me fully learning conure, we're cobbling together a pidgin of the two which we alone understand. :-P My partner T$ only understands a few of the things which are so clear to me, and caiteydid met her a couple weeks ago and commented that Kappa's noises were nothing like Sage's, and I think it's not just due to species (Kappa's a dusky vs. Sage's a GCC), but also due to her learning particular noises from me.
I agree with them learning noises from us. That's why Reginald says "pretty bird" in a higher tone (like me) then when he says "Reginald," which my boyfriend taught him. And he never did the "click-click" noise that is now our flock call until we started clicker training him. :P
