Trust your instincts

Just wanted to report out here a little scare I had with Kappa right before Thanksgiving.

TLDR: I caught Kappa's illness in time, and with antibiotics she's now better )

vet, health

The EXACT same thing happened with my Dizzy. She was acting sluggish one morning and had a weird-looking poop and was kind of off her food, so I took her to the vet and we discovered she had a bacterial infection that was affecting her heart. None of her symptoms were that severe but there was enough off that I felt...wrong about things. ALWAYS trust your instincts, especially when it comes to a bird whose habits you know really well.

I'm SO glad that Kappa is ok. She's super lucky to have someone like you to take care of her.

Oh, wow. That's great that you caught it so early and that the AV was open. (Mine are 9-5, Monday to Friday types.)

I'm so glad you guys are okay!

This happened with my female Eclectus Makira a few years ago. She was just not acting *right* and everyone kept saying "she looks fine to me!" but it's just instinct..the movements aren't the same as you see, her face looked...I don't know, different. Turned out to be a bacterial infection caught very early so she recovered quickly. I am glad your Kappa is well now :)
