Every Eclectus I've ever owned was a closet talker. I had 1 male that would talk to me sometimes, and usually only when prompted with food. My D2 would talk to me all the time. All 3 Eclectus, not a chance unless they thought they were alone. Very funny little guys.

I experienced this today. I got Lenore fresh water and went into the kitchen to get something, and when I came back in she was stuffing her chest into her water and trying to bathe in it, and when she saw me looking at her she got this look like I caught her watching scat porn and just slowly walked over to her regular perch.
Jeffery, my macaw (see icon) talks SO much, he is like a toddler learning words. But as soon as I come anywhere near the bird room, he goes quiet. I can get him to sometimes say "HI!", but thats all. Parrots will usually be like this to get attention/get us to come back into their view. They train us well. But I love listening to him talk and I will shout the words back to him.
My greys don't like to poop if I'm looking directly at them. They assume the position, then if they see me looking, they give me this look, like "Do you MIND?" LOL! They probably are smart enough to make the connection that I always go into a room and close the door, so it must be a private function.
