I live in North Carolina and we have had some really scary weather. A few weeks ago we had a massive hail storm and I thought the windows were going to implode. I had to move Clementine into our bedroom and she slept next to my bed, and she made scared little tweets all night and I spent half the night soothing her in the dark, she was so scared - and so was I. Then this past weekend there actually were tornados, though not in my immediate area, but we had incredible rain and 50+ mph winds. A huge maple tree fell in our yard within 20 feet of the house and the entire house shook. Then the power went out and stayed out for four hours. During that time the house was shaking and there were at least two times that lightening or wind scared me so badly that I leapt up and covered the bird cage with my body... I love that bird like a child! I love the idea of an emergency kit and I am ashamed that I haven't considered it before! I'd also like a tornado-proof cage, please!
