Sami is driving me insane, volume 2

Mar 05, 2009 14:09

I should never, ever brag on any of my kids. Remember that I was boasting that Sami finally decided to sort of take a bath? Now I can't get her NEAR water. She likes sitting on my hand or should while I spray her off, but taking a bath on HER OWN?? Absolutely not ( Read more... )

Well, duh, milady requires sparkling water, at exactly 73.5F. What were you thinking, anyway, peon? :D

Many parrots won't bathe on their own. It's not a huge issue, though you can keep trying. A spray bottle is fine too.

Also, keep in mind that not all parrots want to bathe daily, some will only do it whenever the mood hits them. I have a dish out for bathing essentially every day for the little birds, and only one of them uses it, and then only 2 - 3 times a week at most.

I think Sunshine bathes maybe twice a week. She usually lets me know she wants to by climbing down my shirt towards the water when I turn it on. And she's completely disinterested in warm water.

[wipes brow] And I thought I was being an evil birdmum for not getting her to bathe over being sprayed with the misty sprayer while sitting either on my hand or shoulder [because it saves water to bathe with a friend ;) ]

I've heard some birds like cold water.

I constantly have a bathing dish available, and my birds will sometimes use it a couple times a day, and sometimes only once a week. (And who knows if they're using it when I'm not home *shrug*)
But I usually just spray them with water every morning.
They don't LOVE it, but they don't freak out and throw a fit either since it's "part of their daily routine" now :)

Sami seems to like the "let's sit on Mom and have her spray both of us with warm water from the misty mister."

Sigh. My Evil Green Chicken. I is her servant.

Some days I swear she and the rest of the "kids" sit around and compare notes as to how to make mom batshit insane the fastest :0
