I noticed without even watching! I grumbled something like "when will they stop milking the Battle of Britain to whip up patriotic fervour".

It would have been nicer if the Guardian had spent its anguish on the media othering of those who weren't partying, instead of participating in it.

I should bloody well hope they knew their lines!

The Guardian has a tendency towards metropolitan condescension and introversion on matters of identity, without defining the new consensus to which it is appealing.

I liked the Independent front page:
a lot of pictures relating to the (then) imminent events and a note "if you are not intersted in the Roayl Wedding, turn to page 6"

off-topic: presumably you are still coming here for _the_ event of the weekend?

when are you travelling up?

Sunday morning - I'm booked in at a pub hotel near the main event, and will be around for much of Monday - need to check in with other friends who have asked about Edinburgh too.

That's a pity; the other friends are relaxed about when I turn up, though, so I should be able to arrange times quite late.
