So I've just started watching Jimmy McGovern's new thingy The Street, and the first thing that happens is Jane Horrocks getting soaking wet and having three back-to-back sex scenes. I think it's going to be worth watching.

Jane Horrocks and sex scenes is not sonething I'm sure goes together. I was quite squicked out.

Watched The Street and thought it was pretty pedestrian, uninspiring stuff which has been done many a time before. Hard to fathom that this was from the writer of Cracker !

Jeez -

I don't know about that. I miss Jane Horrocks. A couple of years ago she was everywhere, and then you heard nothing for a bit, so glad she's back. She's definitely made some odd choices - but the kind I appreciate. The urinating Lady MacBeth, for one. I was right down front for that one, and ever since that - I'm a fan.

She does seem to vanish for great long stretches, but I'm fairly optimistic she's entering a 'busy' period now. Like I say, The Street just started on BBC1 last night, and she was on an episode of BBC2's enjoyable genealogy programme who Do You Think You Are? a couple of months or so ago.

The urinating Lady Macbeth, I admit, I don't know about.

I found it went together alarmingly well, myself...

I agree that it wasn't top-tier McGovern, but I found myself liking it more and more as it went on, and I'll certainly be watching it again to find out where the tantalizingly-dangled cameos for Timothy Spall and Jim Broadbent fit in to the overall scheme of things. Not as good as Cracker or Hillsborough, but a massive improvement on The Lakes and that silly Guy Fawkes thing.

Do you fancy Jane Horrocks too? I'm feeling a bit lonely-table-for-one on the issue.
