Torn between vindication and sheer exhaustion. OMGYAY, we were right - but... why now and not ten years ago?
I would have continued preferring H/Hr if she had never come out with these comments. And I'm inclined to think that unless she decides to amend/revise canon to reflect this sentiment, all it will ever be is a footnote to the final published canon.
I think I need to go find some good old fashioned Pumpkin smut to soothe myself.
Ultimately, I don't think this changes much for me. I've retreated into my H/Hr head canon so deeply that I often forgot in reading/writing fanfic that the canon ships existed. At best, the "delusional" weapon is finally bent sideways and no longer effective. I don't expect Rowling to rewrite the books and I don't know for sure that a future revamp of the movies would take "interview canon" into account or not. I do regret what could have been if Rowling had followed where her characters were leading her and stuck to the proper literary alchemy structure that she began.
I think Rowling is trying to get Potter back into the mainstream pop culture conversation since I believe she's working on a new book or series. And because I think that, I only hope that she's being 100% honest now.
People were so so heinous. And I guess we know why they took our enjoyment of H/H as a personal affront - they were so insecure about it. And they had a right to be. Because even JK AGREES WITH US.
(I am feeling, like, drunk on vindication. I retreated from fandom forever and a day ago and I liked it that way. But to all those assholes? SUCK ON THIS, BITCHES.)

I was at first *blinks* and didn't know what to think. But mostly, I can't stop the joy I feel inside me, and I can't help but laugh a bit. And I actually feel a bit like wanting to read some fanfic which I have not done in ages.
(Also, I saw your subject first and thought, Imagine Dragons! before I saw your listed music). :D

I honestly think it's just more the absolute fucking vindication at this point. Because people were heinous assholes for YEARS about this shit.

Honest to God, I don't care why she said it. The point is - she did.
And I'm right with you about regretting that she didn't let her characters do what they wanted to do.
