Let's talk fun things!

1 - I totally read Lola and the Boy Next Door laying in bed on Sunday morning and absolutely LOVED it. Just. Gah. So yes - go read! Up next is Holy Ghost Girl and Behind the Beautiful Forevers.

2 - TV is making me particularly happy this fall. I'm watching all the usual suspects, I have re-fallen for Supernatural (I ( Read more... )

I'm planning on seeing Footloose tomorrow as well. :) We'll have to compare notes!

I am so ridiculously excited. It's sort-of sad. *g*

Oh. Whoa. You totally nailed it.
THAT'S why I can't fangasm about TVD - coz it's already JUST how I want it. The impossible relationship between Elena and Damon is what keeps me hanging on and they always keep it right in the sweet spot, where the situation is so fucked up and tense and poor Damon is so tortured and angsty...ah I love it.
Surely it can't last forever but I'm glad you pointed it out so I can remember to enjoy it while it does.

Right?!

I have loved pretty much every MOMENT this season. Even Stefan, whom generally bores me into a coma, has been amazing. And can we talk about the last scene with Damon, Elena and Stefan of this last ep? HOLY GOD.

I about died I was laughing so hard. I loved it so so so much. I love that they've reversed Stefan and Damon's positions, but they haven't watered Damon down. God. It is totally my favorite show of the moment.

And, yeah, it probably can't last forever, but this has been a REALLY impressive streak so far.

Do you read the AV Club reviews? The title of the last one cracked me up last week - 'Everything changed, again.' Can you think of any other show that changes things to fast and so constantly, but never loses any of its momentum?!

So, yes, clearly I am deeply in the throes of love. *g*

IN LOVE. Seriously it took me a few eps to get into TVD - but that was probably because it was all Stefan to start and I found him so meh. But then Damon turned up and I was HI HELLO OH HAIIIIiiiii and haven't stopped watching.

AV Club.. holy shit no I'd never seen it but I just goggled it, there goes the next few hours. Love that 'Everything changed-again' - right, because I keep saying 'oh they're gonna take it too far aaany minute now'. But that's it, the momentum keeps us trucking past ridiculous shit like when Jeremy got shot and DIED but then Bonnie was all 'don't worry I'll bring him back from the dead at the scary witch house'...I mean half of these ideas on paper would just make me giggle but..they somehow make it WORK.

And yes I looooved that awkward scene. That reversal thing should be so cheesy but it's Damon right? Even when he's being a pussy he's still a badass and that's why I love him. Plus MUCH prefer Evil Stefan. SO looking forward to more....!

WORD. I actually kind-of adore Stefan, when he and Elena aren't being mushy and mopey and doe-eyed at each other. I just find it incredibly BORING. I find them both way more interesting when they're not together.

I also don't buy their 'great love' so that poses another problem. She and Damon have always had way more chemistry and I respond much more to THAT, than someone saying 'but x and y are SUPPOSED to be together!' See - everything I've ever been shippy about. *g*

Dude - AV Club is awesome. Sometimes, they're totally pretentious (one of their Community reviews made me roll my eyes so hard I thought my eyes were going to get stuck), but I generally spot-on agree with their take on Vampire DiariesIf I don't shout 'HOLY SHIT' at the screen at least twice, it's an off week. *g* I remember getting to the end of the premiere and being all, 'Er. I haven't been shocked yet...' and ( ... )

2. Supernatural!! I never watched it when it first aired (wrote it off as a questionably-acted X-Files ripoff) but my sister recently could NOT stop talking about it and convinced me. I'm not sure when you stopped watching it, but I'm partway through season 5 right now and it's pretty awesome. Apparently season 6 was pretty bad but 7 is great so far? IDK yet :)

SUPERNATURAL!!!

I got hardcore sucked in during the hiatus between seasons 1 and 2; mainlined the first season in a day and a half, then watched religiously until...the very end of the fourth season. I watched S5 sporadically, then didn't watch S6 at all.

But this season has been tops, man.

Padalecki looks less like a meathead on 'roids and I think his acting might have even improved. And, of course, Jensen Ackles is as lovely and glorious as ever.

My crush on him seems not to have abated at all. *g*

Interesting! Sister kept telling me how greaaaaat the show was, especially S4, I had to watch it, just keep watching until I got to S4, it would all be worth it, blah blah. I got bored halfway through S2, and I kept thinking "I'm sure watching a lot of hours of TV to get to the FOURTH SEASON of a show I don't like that much!" :)

My crush on him seems not to have abated at all. *g*

Nobody would blame you for that!!

Really - season 4? I mean. All right. *g*

I think by that time I sort-of missed how small it felt, you know? It started out with them hunting urban legends, great Americana. And the myth-arc stuff was certainly interesting, but I didn't like that that's all it felt like.

Also - remember when they KILLED Papa Winchester? Like - no one ever actually dies now. And I guess that sounds horrible, but the first couple of seasons felt like they were in peril. While I knew there was no way either Sam or Dean would die, while I LOVE Castiel...I don't know.

I missed my little show that was dirty and messy and hunting, like, the hook man and shit. Even though that ep was TERRIBLE. *g*

Anyway.

And yes - mmmm, Jensen Ackles. I still get a shiver in my lady parts every time 'Crazy Love' comes up on my iPod. Something about him sounding like a dirty country boy just turns my crank something fierce.
