now that we've survived the suicide mission

First - You wanna know something that really gets on my tits?

When people (usually women, let's be honest) say 'took my virginity'.

TOOK?

A clue? If you refer to it as taking, you're probably not ready for the actual sexing. Just a thought.

Jeebus.

Second - Lost is on and I'm totally not watching it ( Read more... )

I don't think Sara would like Syd all that much. She'd probably like her at first, but if she really got to know her, she'd want Syd to actually take responsibility for her life and stop blaming her dad, Irina and Sloane for everything.

That was exactly the thought I had that prompted the question. It started off as this vague 'that'd be funny and sweet' thing, but when I actually started thinking about it, if Sara actually got to know her, she'd get fed up really quickly.

Syd seems like a kick-ass, take-charge kinda person, but she's really not. She just lets thing happen to her. And I think Sara would have real problem with that.

Definitely. I think early Syd and Sara could potentially have a good friendship, what with their shared daddy issues and all, but post S1-finale Syd would be way too "woe is me" for Sara. No matter what mistakes Sara makes, she never blames other people. She accepts responsibility for her fuckups and expects others to do the same. I respect that.

Word.

I think that more and more as the series went on, I liked the idea of Sydney, instead of actually liking Sydney herself.

But my Sara love just continues to grow.

Oooh I like Fifth. Interesting. Um. Hm. Yes. Yes I think she would, because I think an often overlooked fact is that Syd is really nice. Like, she's just really compassionate and caring and concerned about others, so I think they would like each other. Actually, I think Sara would be like "the one with the edge" in that relationship. Especially if we're talking about present day Syd. Cause present day Syd is a smooshy, cuddly, happy mom. And Sara is a cynic with a shitload of romantic idealism hidden underneath.

And Lost was sweet. You should get a hold of it. But next week? Why the sudden complete ignoring of Jack and Kate? Why? We were doing so WELL last season, kids!

I think they'd get on famously if they met briefly (I'm imagining adorably cute conversations about their respective Michaels), but if they go to know each other? I think Sara would have a real problem with the way Syd just...lets thing happen to her. And then blames other people in her life for them.

And I'm just holding on to the hope that they're giving us Kate/Sawyer now because Jake and Kate are going to realize their great and t00by love. And, you know, I wouldn't really be opposed to some Jake and Juliet(te?). They've only have a couple of scenes together, but yeah. It's been working for me.

as they are both masters of politely holding people at arms length.

I didn't think of that, but it's really true.

And that makes me sad for her.

Oh absolutely. After what happened to Danny, Francie and Will, I think non-spy relationships have been ruined for Syd, and I hate that, because I loved that part of her story. They made her genuinely happy.

think that Sara and Syd would have a nice superficial conversation, as they are both masters of politely holding people at arms length.

That's it, dude. I was kinda cracking myself up, thinking of writing a wee ficlet about two women having a polite, superficial conversation at an airport, then at the end it'd be 'It was really nice to meet you. I'm Sydney, by the way.' 'Sara. Likewise.' And it was going to be called 'Backstory' because after you realized who they were, you'd realize all kinds of shit that was actually going on that they couldn't say.

Then I was pondering in the shower and I just thought, 'You know. I really think Sara would have a problem with Sydney. Should they get past all the surface stuff.

Sydney's job is tough and as a consequence she comes across as such, but she's really not.

Sara though? She's made of steel, baby.

Okay, now I'm totally picturing smiley, pretending-to-be-normal and a little too nice Syd trying to talk to Sara in an airport. Normal!Syd makes cutesy comments about the weather, Sara smiles and laughs non-commitally, and then she turns and rolls her eyes at all of the niceness. Heh. :)
