Seungri's heart is breaking and he hates the way it feels. He stands on the bridge, looking out over the river and he thinks he never should've agreed to meet her here. He hadn't wanted to, he'd wanted to take her to dinner, to apologize, but now it was too late.
He'd always known he was going to fuck up this relationship. He liked her too much without ever really being in love with her. And maybe she hadn't liked him enough to love him. They weren't going to work, they were never going to work. Seungri can see that now, but it doesn't make things hurt any less.
His phone buzzes at him and for a moment he almost chucks it into the river. But he doesn't. He looks. It's a text message from one of his friends, he ignores it. He's sure, by now, that word has traveled. He'd wanted to keep seeing her and she'd turned him down. Rejected him. Broken his heart.
He tries not to feel sorry for himself. She looked upset, too. But he cannot help it. The ache he feels isn't her fault, completely, he could've done better. He should've done better. Next time he'll do better.
His phone buzzes again. Another text. He opens it without thinking.
"Sorry, mate. Just heard. Me and the boys are coming over with beer and shitty movies."
Seungri starts walking toward his flat without really meaning to. They'll be there, waiting. He looks at the other text.
"It's not the end of the world."
His phone buzzes again, he almost doesn't answer, but it's his mum. It starts to rain as he's walking, but he doesn't rush. He tells her what happened, he starts to cry, but his tears mix with the rain and when he hangs up the phone he feels better.
Another text.
"Pizza?"
He texts back, yes for pizza. Yes for beer. Yes for shitty movies. Yes to not being alone. He turns back and looks at the bridge, almost out of sight now. He forgives her. He forgives himself. He doesn't look back again.
