Yoohwan stands in the rain, letting it wash the dust off of him. He reaches out, tugging Sungjong from where he stands, under the eaves of their tiny little cabin. The winter had been rough, the spring worse -- hot and dry. But it's summer now, unusually cool and the rains have come. Yoohwan doesn't know if they'll get worse, everything seems to be in extremes every since the collapse.
Sungjong resists, but Yoohwan is insistent. He knows Sungjong well enough to know when he's being stubborn versus when he doesn't want to do something. So when Sungjong relents, stepping into the warm rain, Yoohwan doesn't hide his smile.
They've been together for as long as Yoohwan can remember. They were together before the world ended and while it was ending they stayed together. And now, after the world has started to rebuild, together they remain.
Sungjong's hands frame Yoohwan's face, he leans up, kissing Yoohwan gently.
They are soon soaked, but it's pleasant, almost comforting. Yoohwan misses lots of things about civilization, like electricity and cars and running water. But he's grateful for Sungjong. For the house they live in. For the village that's grown up around them.
He doesn't know what the future holds, but in this moment. In the summer rainstorm with Sungjong in his arms, none of that matters. They've made it this far together and Yoohwan's certain they'll be together until the end.
He pulls Sungjong closer and they're lost in the kiss, even as the sun pushes the rain away and the world around them begins to dry. There's warmth now, from the sun, from the feel of Sungjong's skin against his. As long as he has Sungjong, hope is not lost.
