CHAPTER 3

“So, how did it go, did you like it?”, William asked as we stood outside.

“No”, I said shivering, “I am never going to learn this”.

“But it looked like you were having fun”, William smiled.

“I had, Luke saw how difficult it was for me and offered me his help”.

“Luke huh, so you’re on a first name basis?”.

“Yes. Look William, I know we made a kind of agreement before we walked into the studio but I have changed my mind, I am sorry”.

“I am not blind Reid, of course you want him, he is young and sparkling”.

“He made me choose”.

“And you have chosen him, I get that, you owe me nothing so relax. It’s just that I liked you. A lot. You are the kind of man I need, but there will be others. So he knows what he wants, the cute blond ”, William said.

“Obviously. And looking back, I can’t understand why I let him make the rules. Who is he to decide who I sleep with?”.

“Well for starters he’s a gorgeous young rich kid who knows how to run the world”.

“Is he rich? Do you know him?”.

“Try Googling him, his name is Luke Snyder. I know his grandmother, and trust me, you don’t want to fight her ”.

“Maybe I should have turned him down and had that drink with you”, I said and looked next to me.

William smiled.

Lying in bed I tried to analyze this evening. Two guys had shown interest in me but I ended up alone, where did things go wrong? I had done what William told me, I Googled Luke and the more I read about him, the more intrigued I got.

Why did he give dancing lessons, his family was loaded and he also seemed to have a foundation, but I couldn’t find much about that. He was a mystery, he had me in the palm of his hands but with what? A promise.

When the lesson ended I didn’t see him anymore, so we couldn’t make an appointment. I wondered if I should ask William to come home with me, but somehow it felt wrong. I couldn’t take my stand-in when the leading actor was what I wanted and I didn’t have either one of their phone numbers which meant I had to wait a week until the next dancing lesson.

More and more I questioned my choice. Was it his age, since when did I fall for a student? I always had a bias for classy men, and William fitted that image perfectly. Although it was late, I grabbed my phone and called Anna.

“Hey, can you give me William’s phone number?”, I asked.

“I don’t have it, sorry, why?”, Anna whispered.

“Why are you awake?”.

“I have a baby remember”.

“So? Close the door and let him cry for a while”.

“I know they teach us that in our pediatric block but it doesn’t work when it’s your own child, I can’t handle him being sad”.

“So he controls you”.

“I heard someone does that to you too”, she smirked.

“Did William complain to you?”.

“No. but he was surprised that a guy with your reputation was so easily pushed around, so is it true?”.

“I guess so but he hypnotized me and promised me golden mountains”.

“So you are seeing him”.

“No, I don’t know where he lives and I don’t have his number ”.

“So look him up”, Anna replied.

“I have, trust me, but he is not in the yellow pages so I guess I have to be patient and wait until Tuesday for our next dancing lesson”.

“And until then you want some company”.

“Is that so bad? You have a warm body lying next to you”.

“I will ask Rob for his number in the morning okay, but now I want to sleep for a few hours. See you at work”.

“Thanks”.
