AND THAT IS WHY THE MOVIES ARE BETTER. NO NEAR OR MELLO. THEY WRAP THINGS UP PROPERLY.

Except for the new movie that I haven't seen, woe.

I kind of want to link to your review of DN because it's HYSTERICAL. I literally spent most of it laughing out loud. =DDDD

There's something in the manga that clears up Sayu Yagami's fate - at the end you see her in a wheelchair, which is completely ridiculous as she wasn't injured in that manner in the series but I guess that's psychosomatic injuries for you. I don't remember what or where it is, though.

I believe you. But once started on the anime, I just had to finish, because I am a stubborn old biddy, that's why.

There was a shot of that in the anime, too, and then after Chief Spineless Wonder died, there was a shot of The Widow Yagami sitting at her kitchen table staring at what looked like two boxes of cremains, with Sayu nowhere to be seen. The conclusion I drew from this was that Sayu had succumbed to a nasty case of Scriptwriter's Convenience.

Sure, go ahead. It's a public post.

By the way, the story is complete in draft, and the first chapter should go up either today or tomorrow, pending edits. FFN and here . . . can you think of any place else where I should announce it?

After getting through the manga, I didn't have enough spirit left in me to go through the anime, not even to find the religious references.

Sayu had succumbed to a nasty case of Scriptwriter's Convenience.
I don't remember that but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's actually kind of a refreshing change from most anime, where the little sister is usually beloved (if slightly abused by her annoyed older brother) and protected.

the story is complete in draft,
THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH LETTERS IN "YAAAAAAAAAY" TO EXPRESS THE YAY-NESS OF MY RESPONSE.

As for places to post notifications - I'm assuming all the interactions are canon-based? (that is, no random shocker Matsuda/Aizawa shipping scene in chapter two?) - in which case maybe death_note or deathnote_fics, depending on how you feel and the vibe you get from the comms. You'd probably get a lot of interesting comments, but it will get the notice out.

I have the feeling that most of the religious references in Death Note sailed merrily over my head. The Gregorian chant and the crosses popping up everywhere sunk in, but I bet you found more than I did -- I totally missed the bit about L being Jesus, for instance.

I don't remember that but it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

And it's not like Sayu Yagami is the memorable type, either.

that is, no random shocker Matsuda/Aizawa shipping scene in chapter two?

Actually, Matsuda and Aizawa don't interact with each other at all in chapter two.

Although the idea of Matsuda/Aizawa is intriguing in its own special way.

I shall check out the comms at some point.
