Wow. Not what I had expected at all out of Mercutio. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense that he would react that way to his father's death after all the years of abuse, but for some reason, I just didn't expect it! I do hope things turn around for him and Valentine.
Romeo, at Juliet’s suggestion, decided to grow a mustache. To his great dismay, it came in red, and he shaved it off again quickly. That made me laugh so hard. Now, that's a mental image!
Mercutio's relationship with his father has always had far more layers than either one of them would have cared to admit. Giacomo's sudden death could potentially cause as many problems as it solves. On the other hand, it means that Mercutio and Valentine are really free, for the first time in their lives. Mercutio is also very lucky in that he has Benvolio to stick with him as he learns how to deal with that freedom.
