Yeay, all posted and shiny! Well done, my darling! I still think this is totally awesome - I love the way you draw the links between Ruby's perspective and the angels', and Dean's final decision really rings true for me. If this is not where they're going with canon, it should be.
Oh, sweetie, this story is awesome. I've been waiting for the last part for DAYS.
The established Sam/Dean relationship in this story is perfect - I love how insecure they are, how easily Dean breaks when Bela accuses him of taking advantage of Sam.
And I LOVE vengeful!sort-of-spirit,not-quite-a-demon!Bela. And Castiel. And how this is only barely this side of Dean/Castiel, just like canon :)
Woooo, thank you so much, my lovely! I'm really happy you liked it. :D I'm particularly pleased you liked Bela here, as I have such a soft spot for her! And the relationship between Dean and Castiel - I wanted to see if I could try to capture the vibe between them while still having the fic be wincest, and so it makes me very happy that it worked for you. :D
I waited to read the whole thing before commenting and appreciate that you got it all up so quickly. I enjoyed this story very much. Its greatest strength is your characterizations, Dean and Castiel especially. Castiel's calm resignation and obedience felt very true to canon. Even moreso, Dean's ultimate choice was pluperfect Dean. It was a complex decision based upon his own unique moral code. Yes, that is exactly the choice Dean would make in the circumstances. The philosophical and psychological questions you explored, without sacrificing plot and character, left me with more than just the pleasure of a good read to contemplate. As zooey_glass04 mentioned, the parallels between Ruby's and the angels' "big picture" perspective were fascinating. The idea that the angels and demons are at root not so very different is a theme the show has been exploring, and you did a great job embroidering on that theme. Contrast that with Dean's perspective, which is not only human, but also what I think of as more "feminine." Not in a "Dean is a girl
( ... )
Oh, wow, I'm bowled over by your lovely comment, thank you so much! It makes me very happy that the fic made you think so much. \0/
I'm really glad the parallels between Ruby and the angels worked for you. :D I think canon has been hinting very heavily in that direction, like in the S3 ep where Ruby wanted to sacrifice human lives to take out demons.
And your thoughts on Dean's more individual perspective and how it ties in with his role as nurturer of the Winchester family are really interesting! I hadn't thought of it in quite that light before, but it makes sense.
Thank you so much again for the lovely feedback! <3
