I'm wondering if my ferrets are going to be okay. There are already two states and several cities that label ferrets as being an exotic pet and prohibit them. The usual argument for this is that their wild cousins hunt birds and small mammals. It doesn't matter to them that ferrets have been domesticated longer than cats and don't have any hunting instincts left. A few state senators in California also argue that ferrets might form feral breeding colonies...even though they are spayed/neutered before going to pet stores.

You can tell that I don't trust politics and government employees to have any sense when it comes to science-based decisions.
