There were several editorials in our paper this week in response to an article written about atheism. I was pleased to see that most of the letters were supportive of atheists, although there were a few asshatery-type letters that showed woeful ignorance.

One letter in particular was a response to a letter from some Yahoo who insisted that any soldier in a foxhole wasn't an atheist. The responder kindly pointed the Yahoo in the direction of www.atheistsinfoxholes.org.

Yeah, I hear that claim a lot. It seems more and more silly with all the debating going on about letting Atheists in the military have freethinker meetings or not be harassed for not going to church. The only reason that Atheists wouldn't be in foxholes would be to avoid discrimination, not for a lack of love of country....although, it gets harder and harder to love a country that is steadily betraying it's founding fathers and seems to hate much of it's own population.

Good question. I'd say it's about 50/50, but I'm obviously just guessing.

Excellent question... and I think ... yes. I don't have any statistics to support this, it's just a feeling.

Thankfully, Satanists are much more supportive of atheists than Christians are, so we get along better. :)
