Will read as soon as we get done watching it. It's going slow because we're having to stop and rant about the insanity every few minutes. There is so much wrong here, it almost can't be put into words. Crazy people.

Is that the crazy movie about the fundies? I haven' seen it yet, but it's on my list. Another good one is Hell House (not the horror movie, the documentary). It documents the fundie haunted house movement.

Yep, the fundie evangelicals homeschooling and indoctrinating their children to be little evangelical warriors. You can watch the entire thing on YouTube. We'll see how long it stays up though before someone has it pulled. (I don't think the actual DVD is out yet because it's in my Saved Movies List on Netflix...oh, I just realized the punny. LOL) "Jesus Camp" does have it's highlights: duct-taping kids mouths, background jokes (fastfood, SUV exhaust, etc.), the kids being sent out alone to talk to strangers, a 10-year talking about "dancing for the flesh", and the moment at the breakfast table when one kids referrences that his parents are divorced and all the other kids give each other weird looks.

Oh, I'll have to add Hell House to my list.

I've just watched the first six parts... and all I can say is that America can grow religious zealots just as well as any other country. That and I can't stop laughing my ass off. Jesus Camp... did that sign to the camp read Hell Lake????!!!

Oh... in part one when they roll the credits, did you notice it's a Loki Films Production? You know... God of Deceipt... oh wait, he's not a Christian god or the God. Well that's okay too, Loki isn't real a god either he's more like a drinking buddy of theirs... but his name is still synonymous with deception and fraud... very much liek the deception and fraud that is being fed to the kids in this film. Wonder if that's a coincidence.

Oh and I was so hoping that the cardboard cutout of the president was gonna be set on fire so that they could re-enact the 'burning bush' scene from the bible. :)

Yep, I think that our religious zealots are worse though. Too much of what the average person does here affects other countries. Plus, it's a shame to have people that ignorant in the one of the most educated countries in the world.

Close, it was Devil's Lake, ND. Fitting. The pyscho evangelicals are in Devil's Lake. I'd clue them into Hell, MI but I'd hate for those crazies to ruin a beautiful little town like Hell. Oh, I didn't notice Loki Films--very fitting!

LOL Yes, they should have told the kids to bring lighters, so they can set their Bush on fire!

Yup, them's peoples is nuts. I knew quite a few like that growing up and while they were very nice people, their religious ferver got to be very annoying at times. I've been hearing quite a bit about the documentary from people on both sides.

Re: Harry Potter. It's actually a story about overcoming adversity and beating the bad guy using your brains instead of brute force. :-) You'd think the right-leaning folks would be all for that...but then again it would require critical thinking skills to interpret it that way.

Good summary of Harry Potter. I haven't seen anything beyond the first movie and clips from the second & third, so I couldn't comment on the storyline. Them calling Harry Potter a warlock just got really annoying. At some point soon, I'll rent the movies to date.

It's funny because the characters refer to themselves as wizards and witches. :-)

Of course in all of the books, they celebrate Christmas and other christian holidays.

I think you'd really enjoy the books. They're all easy reads and very entertaining.

Oh, I need to bring over a gift for Chloe. Are there any days/times that would be good?

I watched some of this a while ago and had to turn it off I was so disgusted with them and them miseducating brainwashing children to be "god's soldiers". I was going to type up a post on it but then for some reason I decided not to. Boingboing.net or was it /dot had a posting about it a few months or so ago.

Yeah, we had to stop every few minutes to bitch about the craziness in the documentary. It's just insane. My gut reaction is to outlaw this kind of thing; I just see it as child abuse. But, it'd be too hard to define where the line is between a proper education with some religious beliefs and this kind of insanity.
