Star gazing

The weather this weekend has been a bizarre mix of pretty foul with moments of brilliant sunshine. This has put me in a strange place mentally. Other factors have contributed.

I saw Harry Brown. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this film is moving and disturbing in equal measure. It's not a film to see if you are feeling down ( Read more... )

Do you get any views of the nightsky from London? You'd have to take a bit of a roadtrip to make use of a telescope, no?

The light pollution around here is pretty bad... but with a decent sized scope (8" or 10") I should be able to get a reasonable view - even of some deep space objects.

A trip up north to where my Nan used to live would be perfect. 20 miles from a city, 5 miles from any town. The down side (other than the 600 mile trip!) would be it's damn cold in the winter, and in the summer you only get about 4 hours of night!
