Yeah...I am very pro-life, mostly because I believe murder in any form is wrong, and I believe the fetus is alive. But that said, when a friend of my family found herself 6 months pregnant with a baby who had about 2% chance of being born alive, about a .000006% chance of living past the moment of birth, and herself in great peril of death if she didn't terminate the pregnancy, my thoughts on the legalization of abortion changed.

Because she was about 6 months along (you can't have an abortion after about 12 weeks in Ohio, I think. Maybe 16 weeks.), she was going to have to fly to another state (and all the expenses that travel would include) and pay $3,000.00 out of her own pocket (insurance wouldn't cover it) for the procedure that her doctors here were recommending as the only way to save her own life. All of the stress of trying to come up with that kind of money out of thin air, while trying to deal with the fact that the baby she'd been falling in love with over the past six months was so sick it would soon be dead, that ( ... )

I find it hard to understand people who claim to be pro-life, but are
willing to endanger the life of the mother in those cases. Can it be they forget the mother has a life too?

In a perfect world... the debate would be unnecessary. Until we live in a perfect world - I believe there needs to be safe options available to everyone.

The ban in South Dakota isn't so bad since there aren't any pre-menopausal women living there. They've all moved to Minneapolis.
