This was a really lovely reflective chapter with some really nice lines, especially this:-

He couldn’t let people see the guilt; he’d learned to make his skin think.

I read all the way through then came back to this. I think it sums up everything there is to say about Ian. His skin is a shield to his emotions. Very nicely expressed indeed:)
