I wish, I wish, I wish people who are so staunchly against things like gay marriage would consider how they would feel if they were told, "Your sexual preference is abhorrent/wrong/a choice only. Try the other way or just abstain."

But that would require empathy, which too few people in society have.

Your post was beautiful, Sophers. YOU are beautiful. Hang in there. Your time will come.

thanks, pamela :-) that means a lot coming from you. also... thanks for commenting. in my experience, a lot of even the most sympathetic wonderful straight people don't really know what to say about these kinds of things (which i get, really). it's no one's fault, but sometimes i feel like i'm talking into a void.

as for people considering how they would feel... i think sometimes what baffles me most about homophobia is the degree to which people seem to lack an imagination. i can only explain it by thinking that people are assuming love is not the same for everyone, and therefore can't imagine that i feel the same way they do. it's weird.
