[ It just went to figure that when Jet was getting used to not being used to the quiet, Spike would go to the trouble of coming back to life to mess it up. By...breaking the silence he wasn't used to.
He was not going to say thanks for it. As it was, upon the call he made his way stiffly to his feet and got going- his leg was healing and damn if it didn't hurt, but this- the sooner he saw the proof with his own eyes the sooner he could let out that breath he'd been holding since this entire mess started.
One less worry, right? Right. ] No. Thought I'd take a vacation and leave my ship alone with Faye.
[ As far as Jet was concerned, even supposed-to-be-dead men deserved sarcasm where it was due. ]

[ If nothing else, the mafia line of work taught patience and self-control. Spike dragged him to location after location without answers, without explaining exactly what had happened to Julia or why he thought she might be in any of these places when Shin could tell him precisely where he'd last heard from her, and Shin makes no comments besides the few that are necessary. Asks no questions, though he'd dearly like to. Spike is offering him refuge when he's got nowhere else to go. If or when he feels like explaining, that will be the right time to ask questions.
Not that it makes the sight of the thing in the sky any easier to ignore, nor the way Spike doesn't seem surprised about it.
And yeah, he gets it. This is Spike's other life he's intruding on, these are people that have nothing to do with the Dragons, and the best thing for all of them is to just keep his mouth shut and his head down, stay behind Spike and let him say whatever he likes. ]
No worries, man. Crazy week.7livesleftFebruary 25 2010, 16:22:31 UTC
[Hard to believe he'd been gone at all. Even the bullshitting was the same. -- That's one thing he always liked about Jet, he could take whatever you threw at him without losing his sense of humor. Spike's smile still came easy, and only slightly crooked.] Hey, I never know what'll happen if I leave you two alone. Might have lost it in a bet.
[Speaking of throwing things; Spike nodded to Shin.] ... I think you've met. [That was as much introduction as he was giving. Not like he could expect Shin to relax after that, but he was confident that Jet understood enough to fill in the blanks.
Which didn't mean Spike wasn't sorry for springing his resurrection on his old partner. He'd just rather not mention what he didn't have to. (Kind of how he wasn't mentioning that his Swordfish felt like it needed a complete overhaul based on how much he had to push it to get it back there. Later.) Spike scratched at his neck before slipping his hands in his pockets, his grin a little more believable the second time.] So about that whiskey.

[ Yes, nothing like getting back to the familiarity of the basics to send a meeting down more smoothly. The banter was probably the most reassuring thing about this...situation so far, actually, and Jet met that smile with a smirk of his own. The fact that Spike wasn't bleeding all over the place? Helpful. ]
[ It was enough of an introduction. Jet gave Shin a cursory nod. ] Right. ... hell of a choice in hitchhikers, Spike. [ He turned and headed for said whiskey without further discussion, pausing only to add: ]
Cat can come, too, if I don't trip over it. [ It was the closest to an outright 'okay, he can come' that Jet would be getting. ]
