1. It's funny how this is true of so many of the people I met in this fandom. I seem to have timed it just right to jump in, meet you all, and then we all jumped out.

2. See, I think the pigs are going to take over, because they're really, really evil. And pink. Pink is a color that should only appear on hot guys.

3. Man, I remember our awesome comment conversations. I wish I had the brain to do more of that, and more meta in general.

4. One of the things I love about the Hisoka drabbles is that they're all rather discrete AUs on an event level, but on a characterization level, they're pieces of a whole, like the best of the "Five things" stories.

5. Yes to all of this, including the association of girls with adventure. In my case, I lucked out and grew up in San Francisco in the late '70s, attending an alternative school, so books featuring girls and characters of color having adventures and saving the day were part of the curriculum.

1. I wasn't aware that it was true of other ex-QaF fans.

2. Pigs are no good at stealth. You can see the pink* coming from miles away! Ducks are like feathery ninjas.

*Pink should also be reserved for scary childhood playmates who want to play jumprope with your intestines, because it matches their dress.

3. Ditto. My brain works in fits and starts.

4. That's so nice, I'm going to pretend that what you said was what I was going for. Also, I love "5 things" stories.

5. I grew up with plenty of books about white girls having adventures and saving the day. Characters of color seemed limited to historical stuff like slavery or internment camps, some non-Western folklore, and present day problem fic or Diversity is Good. The only Asian girl character I ran into was in a picture book about chopsticks and forks, where she narrated the story of how her British white dad met her Chinese Asian mom. Now that I think about it, the plot's about how a white dude picked up an Asian chick by learning to eat with chopsticks. :(
