So, went to Fencon yesterday with my friends Cid and Suz. They combined it this year with the steampunkers and WOW talk about crazy costumes.... Just yeah. Some were truly truly amazing. My beloved Anthony aka talekyn was in town for business, so he joined us yesterday for some of the fun. He and I also escaped for The Mothership, also known as the ( Read more... )

B&N's advantage over Borders was they recognized the e-market early and got in with a device while they could. Borders has been questionable for years. I did two different booksignings with them ('97 and '99) that I never ever got paid the royalties on the books I sold.

At this point, I prefer e over print, but I still spend quite a bit of money on print, too, because I don't want to see B&N fold. We get at least two shopping trips a month to our local store.

Yeah - our B&N is a smaller one, but they have LOTS of Nook and electronics smacked in there. I have a Kindle and love it but am perfectly happy with them crammng Nook down everyone's throats so I can keep giong back to my store. :)

Oh wow on the royalties, that sucks. Hiss.

So much to respond to! Congrats on your reception at the con! Of course they were excited about blackthumb! (I'm sure the title makes sense if you know the story, which I don't). Yay you ( ... )

I bought A LOT of books from Borders. Mostly non-fiction, and some fantsay authors that yeah, wouldn't have otherwise so probably will continue to buy later if I ever have the time to read them all!!

Scrivener does indeed have a PC version now. It's been in beta for awhile, a year or so - I think they introduced it durign Nano? That's when I first heard about it and those reasons you give is why this editor encourages his peeps to use it.

I need to read my homework but keep getting distracted. LOL SPN was something! I probably will watch it again later. But have to be good for a little while right? Yes? A bit?

Eh. I'm practicing discipline today by moving my power source into the bedroom and having the internet hook up in the living room, so I'm on internet as long as the battery lasts and then I go back to the bedroom to work until I get charged again. It's about even times.

Am going to read these Mark C. books first, then will read those.

I had to giggle - one of the women who was in the workshop is who suggested it - "Do you have a problem with gay characters?" she asked.

tee hee uh you know my answer!

Excited about your prospects!

I try very, very hard not to keep myself awake worrying about e-books or the business in general. My store suffers, but perhaps that is simply a hint that I need a career change.

I am trying hard to concentrate on the writing and not worrying about everything but it is so HARD. It was very eye opening to hear about how Pyr was hit, and especially the authors, oh my stars the one total bomb and it wasn't his fault.

We are so at the mercy of others, argh!!!!
