Such love, where do I start? Hmm, maybe I'll be random here.
“Yes, I want you. I want to be you,” Jason finally answers after what seems like the longest pause.
That's the defining line of the fic. I want to be you. What Jason sees in Tim is what Jason still, somewhere deep down, wants to be. It's an agonizing thing to watch him do the exact opposite of the things that would make him more like Tim. I get the feeling from what Jason was thinking after the fight with Tim (in regular continuity) that he knows he's crossed too many lines to be like Tim, but he still wishes he could have been. You've captured that beautifully.
“You could still be one. If you just stop.”
Jason seems to consider that. And rejects it, of course. The fatalistic streak in his character really gets to me. Instead of trying to right his wrongs, he creates more of his own brand of (in)justice. But he lets Tim go, and it's a small act of redemption to not violate Tim any more than he already has

Yes, poor Jason. He really has crossed too many lines to be like Tim, but I'm sure that doesn't stop him from wishing. Thak you.
Yes, sob. It is a small act of redemption and it makes me wonder what happens after that as far as Jason goes.
Ramble away! I often wonder that too. What if Jason had lived?
Thank you! :-*

I'm wondering about that too. Psst, sequel.
Wicked! I don't know, but that would be an interesting thing to explore.
You're welcome! :-*
