One pretty eventful training session had been enough to exhaust her, but actually sleeping didn't seem to be a possibility. A restless half-nap later, Buffy was back out the door. It was dark, which meant (at least with what she knew about this place) that it would more than likely be more dangerous than when it wasn't dark. Buffy wasn't exactly frightened. At all. The only creature (man, beast, or otherwise) that she would've possibly had to fear had actually become quite the quick friend.

Still, she didn't leave unarmed. She had a stake up her sleeve, as per her usual, just in case. She didn't bother with her sword, being that she figured if anything came along she could handle it with something small and the sheer force of her own physical strength. Deciding that the night wasn't getting any younger and that she couldn't possibly get any more bored, Buffy headed out ( ... )

There was a pause in that quiet clap of footsteps. The sound of the cigarette being burnt up as he took another deep breath, the paper lighting into ash almost instantly. He smirked just a little, that's kind of what he was... a long burning cigarette slowly making it's way toward ash. Those thoughts, however, were cut short as his attention was drawn toward the smell of life. Familiar life, more importantly. That small smirk came to his lips as iridescent blue eyes lowered to that pretty blond hair. Just a cock of his eyebrow as he turned slightly, another drag.

"What are you doing out so late?" Not that he was one to talk, but being a creature of the night gave him a reasonable excuse to be out in the evening.

A little cock of his head to the side as he looked her over, she looked to be calm at least, so perhaps she had escaped her nightmares for the evening. Then again, she seemed to be adept enough at 'looking alright'. A sniff of the air given as he turned that half burned cigarette through his fingers.

The familiar voice brought Buffy back from space, and she looked up at him slowly. Her eyes were red from a lack of sleep, but in the dark that probably didn't register much. She offered a small smile, scooting to one side of the bench to make room for him. "Couldn't sleep. Not really tired anymore, anyway. So, here I am." She shrugged, then patted the place next to her.

"What about you? Aside from the obvious, I mean." Anything to get her mind off of what she'd been dwelling on would've been good at that point. Nevermind that part of it had been him, and that this just made her thoughts lean more one way than toward the grave-nightmare I-miss-Heaven direction.

For the longest time -five years really- Hannibal had been a night owl, mostly because it was a method of survival. Sunlight was not his friend. Habits changed and more often than not, Hannibal slept through the day and was up at night.

That usually meant a hunt. And he didn't see why now should be different. He wandered along the streets, having cut through the park earlier, whistling slightly as he threw a silver stake into the air and caught it.

It was times like these he was almost grateful for the lingering vampire traits. Like pretty damn good eyesight, it let him at least make out two figures across the street, walking and talking.
