In all honesty, Aerith had needed a break. She needed to get away if it were even possible, and no matter how much she wanted to avoid it the church was where she ended up time and time again. Thinking back on everything wasn't doing her any good here, though. She still hadn't spoken to Tseng since... that, Cloud was still away, and where would she even get started on her forever-missing Holy materia? There was too much to handle at once.

Sighing to the empty church, the flower girl was on her way out the doors when suddenly they opened in front of her. "Oh!" And Vincent Valentine was the last person she expected to see standing before her, towering as he always did because gods he was too tall and she felt a little too short next to him. "Vincent!" But she greeted him with a smile nonetheless, more out of habit than anything. Without a smile, she just didn't feel right.

"So you aren't avoiding me. I'm relieved."

Vincent looks over at Aerith, his eyes narrowing. He didn't say anything, but the way he was staring at her seemed to be the closest thing to him looking offended that he had ever managed, and most certainly while around her.

"Is that truly how I seem." He states it, tone carrying a bit of coldness to it.

She could feel it more than hear it, the cold tone, but Aerith still smiled and shook her head. "You keep your distance," she replied softly, never breaking from his gaze. "It's hard to tell how you feel sometimes."

Of course, she hadn't meant to offend him, but Aerith was not always the kind to tiptoe over anything. "I don't think you're that way, but it would make me sad if I were an obligation."

"Hm, my preferences are my own." He replies, taking care of what she said with just that sentence. It was best to keep his distance, and his past had given him every reason to remain such. He stares her down for a moment longer, then looks away and down.

"Clearly you think it enough to doubt me."

Aerith had to swallow down another laugh. Was he pouting? She knew better than to ask aloud, so instead the flower girl lifted a hand to gently place it on his arm.

"Vincent, I'm sorry. I won't doubt you anymore." And her hand slid away from him, mindful of his... preferences.

Vincent just shakes his head, rising to his feet after she pulls away. His cloak flutters somewhat as he jumps from the roof, gliding down to land gracefully on his feet, bending at the knees before slowly rising. He knew she would let him be, and obviously the conversation was very much over with.

Very much.

Aerith watched as he dropped from the roof, hands settling over her knees as she leaned back again. She would let him go for now, right now it was all she could do and all he would allow. She didn't mind, really. At the least, he'd given her something else to talk about, something to distract her from everything else.

She could try talking to him again later.
