Vincent had spotted him from afar. Cloud told them all in that locked message to not approach him or mess with him, but the AVALANCHE leader would have to forgive him this transgression. Slowly he steps, not in a hurry for what he had in mind; facing down what you were responsible for allowing didn't exactly make one ecstatic to approach another.
Soon he's at Sephiroth's side, cloak fluttering behind him somewhat. He had seen the ex-General's own message; did he truly not know who he was? "To forget yourself down to your core; hm, others may consider it a blessing."
Had he been what he was, he would have heard the barest flutter of movement from afar, but as such, he only looked up when he heard the other speak. MAKO eyes still narrowed; he trusted no breathing thing in this place.
"Then I wish them good fortune and luck," he replied caustically, tone chilly. "Because right now, it's miserable. I can't think of a worse punishment, actually."
Vincent wasn't much on trust, especially if he didn't somebody, of course. The tone of Sephiroth's voice does nothing to chill him or unsettle him.
"Others would disagree, but to each their own." To see this man he knew in such a different light look so...broken, that unsettled him the most. Perhaps though, this was a good thing? If he remembered going through all of this once he did indeed regain his memories, it could help him somewhat.
"Yes, well. Give them my best, huh? Whoever I happen to be."
Gods, but his head ached. Clenching his eyes closed, he tried not to double over with the effort, but it was throbbing so loudly he honestly feared he might pass out. The former dull ache had escalated to a shit-kicking earthquake inside his skull and he leaned over on his knees, praying to whatever god he happened to hold to for it to cease.
All in all, he feared he'd rather be dead than to live with this. It'd be preferable, especially now.
After his conversation with Cloud, Zack had promised himself he would give Sephiroth his space; let the memories come back on thier own, if they ever did at all. A fresh start wouldn't have been bad for the other man; no memories of ShinRa, of Hojo, the labs...it would all be gone...maybe things were better this way.
Wanting to try and shake off the sadness that had overcome him at that realization, Zack had taken the pup out for a walk, to try and get the ball of fur to just settle down a bit. When he caught sight of Sephiroth on the park bench, he stopped in his tracks. He'd promised...and Zack Fair kept his promises. He turned around to leave, but the pup, having caught the scent of his master, had other ideas about the situation.
For not the first time since he'd actually gotten into the program, Zack thanked his SOLDIER training. If his reflexes hadn't kicked in, the pup would have yanked his leash free of Zacks hand and bolted for Sephiroth. As it was, he was already straining the lead, barking and whining as he tried to pull
So caught up in his own head was he that he didn't register the barking mutt right off. And even when he did, he simply flicked an uninterested glance through the silver obscuring his profile; hn, just a man and his dog, no doubt out on a jaunt through the park.
Well, he had no intention of disturbing them, nor did he want to be disturbed, so he simply lowered his gaze to the ground between his booted feet again, unseeing the dirt clotted amidst the grass stems. Dull pain still pounded behind his eyes and they closed as he sighed, not for the first time wishing they'd never woken him from that...coma or whatever the hell it was.
Zack had to struggle to get the pup back under control, his heart sinking as there wasn't even a hint of recollection showing through Sephiroth's posture. Didn't even remember his own dog...it had been too much to hope for, really.
Turning his gaze down as his eyes began to sting, Zack picked up the pup. Gods, it hurt, but what more could he do? Don't push him, don't force it, don't...try to make him remember anything. Angeal, Genesis...him.
With the pup still whining and trying to get free, Zack took one last look back at his old friend, then turned to walk away. Hopefully, Tseng wouldn't mind if he chose to stay a while longer...he didn't have anywhere else to go at this point.
