HEY EVERYONE

Nov 03, 2011 13:59

I have TWO REQUESTS of everyone. Just two! They are kind of important so help me out here.

1. What are some holidays/festivals/traditions from your respective canons?
Let's keep up this trend of being diverse and spice it up with some events from different canons as well!

2. What are some elders/heroes/ancestors that are important to your ( Read more... )

Re: #2, When you say figures, do you mean people who are no longer living, or would Gods be counted in this, too?

I am conferring with my cohorts on the matter, but I am going to very tentatively say that, since Gods are often honored daily/on their own respective holidays, they probably would not be included. If the answer changes, I will let you know!

1) Well, Kasanoda is your average high school student, so nothing exciting there.

Minnie Mouse and her kingdom hearts home of Disney Town/Disney Castle has the Dream Festival, where people play games (Racing, Fruitball, and lots of ice cream and music!) and everyone votes for the most popular person, who gets the Million Dreams Award. (it's implied that the prize changes every time, one time it was their own special ice cream.

Fluttershy has a few, off the top of my head. Nightmare Night, which is essentially their version of Halloween, and since we just passed it, we'll move on. Winter Wrap Up, in which everypony helps to clean up winter so spring can come - awaken the animals, plow the snow, cut up the ice on lakes, build birds nests, etc. There's also the Grand Galloping Gala, which is a grand very fancy party. basically everypony dresses up all pretty and acts like snobs. The last one I can think of is Summer Sun Festival, which is where they watch Princess Celestia raise the sun.

2) I... honestly can't think of any? sorry :/

First Day - the New Year
Wintersend - start-of-spring festival
Summerday - start-of-summer festival
Funalis - start-of-autumn festival
Satinalia - start-of-winter festival

As for revered historical figures, there's a lot and it varies country to country, but the most important would certainly be Andraste, Bride of the Maker. She's the prophet of the Andrastian faith and a Jesus/Jeanne d'Arc/Buddha/Mohammed figure; she led a slave army in revolt against the Tevinter Imperium and was captured and burned at the stake.

There's no official holidays in Yuan's world, but the Chosen Ones are venerated as children of angels, and Spiritua, the previous Chosen of Sylvarant, is a major Church figure on both sides. In Sylvarant, she's known as the savior of the world, along with the companions she had on her journey who are known as the Seven Saints. In Tethe'alla, on the other hand, she's known as the Angel of Death, responsible for slaying a king who tried to kill the Chosen of Mana on that side.

(These events also coincided with the fall of the Palmacosta Dynasty in Sylvarant, whose ruler kept the book recording Spiritua's journey, and with the rise of the Renegades. Something sure as hell happened back then, and Yuan would know what it is, but canon's not telling.)

How about one canon per answer because that's about all I can do!

1) Xena: Solstice! Basically an excuse to have a Christmas episode. It's your standard good will, gift giving, generic winter holiday. Complete with Christmas Solstice trees.

2) Lord of the Rings: Shall we divide this by race?

Elves: Elwë, Olwë and Finwë (Three great kings, possibly among the first elves. Finwe is Galadriel's grandfather). Fëanor (Great warrior, craftsmen, created their written language, the Silmarils and the Palantíri. It should be noted that he is Galadriel's uncle and they were not friends). Gil-galad (Great warrior/king. Distantly related to Galadriel (and also younger). Lúthien (Best known for her part in The Tale of Luthien and Beren Also younger than Galadriel, lol.)

Men: Beren (see Luthien), Elendil (Great king, warrior, ancestor of Aragorn). Isildur (King, failed to toss the Ring into Mt. Doom, ancestor of Aragorn).

Dwarves: Durin (The father of dwarves).

....Is it obvious who my favorites are? :/
