important post - World Plot Information

Aug 12, 2009 14:14

It has been a while since we've touched the World Plot and the questions that came up when we made the actual initial start to it during the Wild Wild West plot. First we'd like to apologize for taking so long to put this together to address your concerns. We have all been busy these past few months, and we wanted to make sure that this was ( Read more... )

Personally, I'm enjoying the little hint of mystery the game has with the world plot. I want to see it develop and how it goes about doing this.

As I've stated before, the only issue I have is timing. I know everyone lives in different timezones, and getting everyone together at once is difficult, but when major things happen, it's hard to be involved when it's played out in the wee small hours.

Something like forward or back-dating action posts would make it far easier for everyone to get involved, rather than just a small number of players who are on at the time. If something is coming up that can't be posted this way, maybe an ooc note in advance would be helpful; so those of us who can't be involved will know what's going on, and be able to imply what our characters would be doing ahead of time, rather than try and think of something after the event has happened.

Other than that issue, I'm really enjoying the plot. I can see you're putting a lot of work into it, and it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

Yeah I totally hear you on the time zone thing. I'm actually going to start looking into figuring out if I can like build a page in the wiki that has like time zone widgets? So that at a glance we can see like who is in what time zone and what time is it where they are right now. I have NO clue if it's actually something possible to build or not, but it's been on my mind for a while. Or just some sort of a list to see what time zone people are even in, so that we can sort it out ourselves if need be.

We're trying to keep it in mind, because we want this to be something that everyone can have a part in. I think it's another reason why we are trying to think of ways to make it smaller groups, so that while you might not have been able to participate in one of them, there will be one that will be open for your time zone and the proverbial ball will be in your court as to how the information gets passed to the rest of the castle.

Now that there is a good plan. It will certainly help with plotting outside the world plot, too.

That's brilliant, I'd be completely up for something like that :D

Actually, I can look into making a page for time zones. It wouldn't actually be on the wiki, but it could be linked to from the wiki. I could set up a page with a clock for each time zone a player is in? That way it would be easy to see what time it is for however many players.

I've been a fan of World Plot, and I'm glad to see the mods working together and presenting a united front. I'm sure more people will bring their concerns up later, but I just want to say that:

The changes lately feel like they're more suited for a few people rather than the entire community. It's gotten way too confusing.

^ That section doesn't really do a lot to address the way that most players feel left out of these plots. I realize it's something you're working on, and you don't want it to be revealed all at once, but it's very frustrating when a group of people have this knowledge and there's no IC way for your character to find out about it in order to participate in the plot more fully. Especially when nearly everything happens in one night.

I know from my own point of view, the everything happens in one night situation has been discussed a lot. It's not something that we intend to do again when it comes to the World Plot. It was honestly just something that we weren't sure would take off, or would be successful. During that event we had discussed waiting to do part of it until the morning, but it was just a matter of timing for everything else that we had planned to take into consideration ( ... )

I have a quick question about player submitted plots, just need some clearing up. :)

What does this mean for player plot--more specifically--world change submissions? Are they going to need to include some of the mod world plot ideas?

Oh! No not at all. Basically plots get submitted just as they always have. If we the moderators see a chance to put a clue or a hint about the world plot into your plot, we'll contact you about it. We'll let you know what we'd like to include and when, and if you're not okay with it? Then we'll just hold off on it.

We'd never expect you to try and figure out what the World Plot is at all, since only the mods know the details of it.

I have to say, I'm really glad that this got put up. I like knowing that we won't ever know EVERYTHING, that this is just meant to shake things up and keep people talking and on their toes.

I like that it looks like the time zones are finally getting straightened out, and that you ladies are taking steps to try and include the most people possible in the big plot events.

Also, it was fun to see how some muses took what they learned from the West encounter and applied it to what went down with Cabot ... and how some didn't, at all. :D The fact that it's already subtly affecting things is neat, and I look forward to seeing how it develops.

That being said ... I'm curious: are we ever gonna see Miz Browne again? :)

The thing about Paradisa is that faces can pop in or pop out at any given moment, any day, at any time... and sometimes it likes to bring people in for rounds two through eleven. We'll see! :)
