[Okay. Her hair looks ridiculous. Well, it looks ridiculous to her, but Julia seems convinced that this is the way to go.]

[Well, at least that's something. She stands for a moment, quietly, like she's thinking about something. (Something along the lines of, How do you make something impossible possible?) But then she gets an idea.]

[She does as she's told, trying to fix the hem of the dress.]

It's really short.

[This time, Spike shows up late, but is just as oblivious as before. He knocks on the door and then waits there like he is the coolest guy on the planet. (Let him pretend.)]

[Jo doesn't dare answer the door. But her mom does. Yeah... good luck with Ellen.]

Mom!! [Oh. Right. Cool.

Hi, Spike. I really like your jacket. [Should she rub it against her cheek? NO. Let's not do that just yet. Instead, she'll just stand there. In the teeny dress.]

[Spike was expecting Gwaine's man-ish sister to come to the door, so this... is unexpected; and not in a bad way. He must be looking extra suave today.]

Do I know you? [--and yeah, he just looked her up and down while her mom is standing right there. He's super classy.]

[She notices the looking. So does Ellen.]

Of course you do, it's Jo. Gwaine's sister. We met last year.

[Oh. Right. Suddenly becoming aware of himself and smiling stupidly to cover.]

... Hold on, Jo? What happened?

[huntersdaughter]

[Her hands smooth over the front of her dress, carefully moving to tuck her hair (perfectly styled courtesy of Julia) behind her ear.]

Nothing happened, Spike - I just thought I'd wear this dress today. For the holiday.
