Waking Harmony _fredless November 24 2011, 15:22:16 UTC
Fred entered Harmony's room without so much as a by-your-leave and a with a very clear mission. Moving to the bed, she nudged her friend's shoulder with no small amount of urgency.

"....Harmony Harmony, wake up. It's Thanksgiving."

She could feel the shaking and the urgency in Fred's tone. She tried to wake up with as much alertness as possible, but her hair was pressed to her cheek and she can't adjust to the dark quite yet.

"No opening presents until tonight." That was the first thing that came to mind with that sort of awakening. It was the wrong holiday though.

Wait.

Wrong.

"Fred, what happened??"

"Nothing's wrong," Fred assured her, immediately feeling a small twinge for waking Harmony up so abruptly.

"It's Thanksgiving. And we're going to cook."

"Mmm...kay."

Harmony pushed herself up to a more sitting position and nodded again. "I just gotta get slippers."

All the Cooking _fredless November 24 2011, 15:24:36 UTC
If anyone came over now, they'd walk into a flurry of activity in the kitchen. Nearly every burner on the stove had been requisitioned for some dish or the other, and there was the very distinct smell of the turkey cooking in the oven. Several pies sat to one side, ready for later.

Harmony moved between checking pots to make sure they didn't overboil and moving out to the dining room to set the table and make sure the dogs weren't underfoot. Mr. Muggles and Hallie were spoiled as it was, there was no sense in also feeding them food off the table.

"No, you two go lay down. Mommy's busy helping Fred."

Fred came in then, arms filled with the linens for the table. She set them down, smiling as Harmony gently chastised her pets.

"I'm not even sure if anybody will come. But I couldn't let another year go by without trying."

"People will come. They have to. Look at all this food!"

Harmony tried to be reassuring, wanting her friend to believe that it'd happen.

"If you cook it, they will come - right?"

Dinner _fredless November 24 2011, 15:27:11 UTC
The long table that anchored the dining room was now overflowing with food. Two sets of hands were definitely better than one, and between the both of them Fred and Harmony had made an an enthusiastic attempt for their last minute Thanksgiving.

Angel always feels a little out of place at these gatherings. The fact that the last time they got together like this they wound up trapped in the tower aside, he doesn't exactly want to gulp down a cup of blood at the table while everyone else is eating--particularly when there are guests outside of his usual circle. So he's just kind of ... sitting there helping to pass food around while sipping on water like he's some kind of underwear model. This is so fun you guys don't even know. But it's okay because how often do they get to do stuff like this? He's just happy they're all getting along.

And Gunn is, of course, a little fashionably late as he comes into the dining room. He's a little sweaty, and perhaps a little sheepish looking, too - he's been out training, apparently, out of breath as he takes a seat next to Angel and immediately guns for the mashed potatoes.

"What, man - no turkey with pig's blood gravy for you?"

Fred catches sight of Charles settling down at the table, and a wide grin washes over her features. She'd always assumed he would come, especially since it was practically his idea.

But as it's gotten closer to time to eat, she had started to wonder.

She knew, of course, what he wanted and immediately lifted the bowl of potatoes to pass over.

Food Coma _fredless November 24 2011, 15:27:59 UTC
Is there such a thing as too much food? Fred had her opinion, but that really is for you to decide.

And this will be the part where Cordelia collapsed back against the couch, hands over her stomach, and sitting in a blissful, tryptophan-induced state of being. It's definitely been one of the best Thanksgiving meals she's had in a long time.

"I think if I move, I might explode."

... Yes, she does actually believe that.

Fred fell back onto the couch next to Cordy, almost immediately curling slightly into a ball of contentment. She could safely say she wasn't hungry.

".....that."

Cordelia sighed as she inched just a little bit closer to where Fred was sitting. "You did very, very good. Thank you for cooking."
