Max was not looking where she was going.

She was well aware that something was coming her way, she could hear it. She just couldn't see it over the box of junk that she was hauling in front of her. Max's form of spring cleaning involved taking all the stuff that other people that were not her and left behind in her room, designating what did and didn't need to be given to other owners for emotional reasons, and taking the rest to town to see if she can hock it. She doubts that her ex-roommates will be offended.

It's not like they could remember the stuff.

She was on her way out the door when she heard the footsteps and stopped, tipping her head out around the edge of the box to see who it was. And when she did, she smirked. Look who's back again.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in."

Chase was about to step to the side to allow the girl to past when she spoke. He raised his eyebrows slightly and glanced behind him.

There was no one there.

"You mean me?"

"Yes, I mean you." She sighed a bit, before dropping the box down to her feet. She knew that he wasn't going to remember her, but she was still amused by his showing up again nonetheless. "I'm Max. We were friends the last couple times you blew through here."

He had braced himself for this, but it was still weird nonetheless. Now he knew exactly how some of his patients felt after suffering from memory loss. Aside from not knowing how to act, he was also feeling somewhat guilty, despite not being at fault.

"I'm sorry I don't remember you." He glanced down at the box.

"Clearing some things out?"

"I know. You aren't the first person to bounce back and forth on me, and you probably won't be the last."

And sadly, that seemed to be the truth. She seemed to be sticking it out longer than everyone else.
