River could understand where he was coming from. She might know everything there was to know about Rory, but he didn't yet know too much about her - at least not this version of River Song. Some father-daughter bonding wouldn't be amiss.

"Hello, Rory." Before coming here, she hadn't seen Rory in quite a long time. So spending time with him was something she welcomed. "Lovely day, isn't it?" Best to start out casual.

Rory starts a little when she says hello, and his smile when he looks up is a little too forced, but he nods all the same.

"Yeah ... suppose it is," he says quietly. Then he looks down at the bundle of clothing in his arms before holding it out to there. "I, um--I brought you some cold weather things. You'll need them--it's a snow day."

In contrast, River's smile seems to betray the fact that she's perfectly at ease with this situation. The difference? She's had a lot longer to deal with this timey wimey situation. "Ah, that would explain quite a bit." The name of the room made a lot more sense now. Reaching out, she pulls on the heavy clothing with ease.

"I should have packed my boots."

His eyes widen slightly, a bit stricken as he casts about nervously. He hadn't thought about boots. "I can ask the castle for some, if you want--?"

He envies River's seeming ease, might even resent it a bit. It just doesn't seem fair that he should be so nervous and twitchy around his own daughter when she's perfectly fine. A little smug, even. In his mind, it just widens the gulf between them--no matter how much he's determined to breathe slow and easy and bridge that gap.
