After having been under her sisters' care for almost two days Phoebe was more than ready for a break. No, not just a break. She wanted to see Peter. She loved her sisters dearly, more than anything, but they didn't understand what it was like. They didn't know how it felt to have someone in your head... or to be in someone else's. Over that, still, was just the desire to see him, to be near him. No matter what Piper said, Phoebe cared about Peter and she wasn't going to let something like Legato keep her from that.

Not wanting to interrupt him if he was working in the clinic she opened her journal and filtered to him.

"You know. It occurs to me that we never did have that coffee date."

Phoebe. Of course. She was going to worry about him. He needed to tell her where he was in case she came looking. He opened his journal to leave a message for her and saw there was already one for him.

Coffee. It sounded so normal. His hand trembled a little as he jotted back his answer.

"Do you mind bringing some? I'm in the Danger Room." He gave her the directions and added "I'll leave the door open." He couldn't say everything he needed on paper. But when he saw her, maybe the words would come out.

When she saw his written response she frowned. She had a feeling something was wrong. She didn't respond right away, deciding to just make a thermos of coffee and head down to the Danger room.

She poked her head in, looking around. "Peter?"

"Phoebe." Peter got to his feet, moving toward her voice. He hoped he didn't look as bad as he felt at the moment. The second his eyes caught her he moved to pull her in his arms.

"He's gone," he whispered to her, allowing himself to speak the words out loud. It stung and made his eyes burn. "My friend. No, he was... he was more than that. He was like my brother."

He knew she would understand how he was feeling.
