Waiting for the other groups to get there. Hope they aren't late!

Allen couldn't sit around any longer, and he promised Ino he would help. So he's there, still all dressed in black and seems to be more inclined with hanging by the wall as he waits for everyone to filter in with his arms crossed.

Ino approached with a small grateful smile, glad to see Allen out and about. Even if he was still feeling badly, she hoped doing this would be something of a decent distraction for him.

"Hey," she nodded, tucking some hair behind her ear. "Ready for a workout?"

He'll look up when Ino approaches him and looks politely back at her. "Ah..yeah!" He'll look a bit nervous but try to hide it...somewhat. "I think that I am!"

"Good," she said, a little soothingly. She could tell he was a bit nervous, but she knew he'd do fine. It was just a matter of playing keep-away, and she was pretty sure Allen could accomplish that much. She dug into a pouch on her belt, pulling out a set of two bells. "Here, in case you didn't bring your own."

"Ah-" He'll hold out his hand for the two bells. To be quite honest, he had entirely forgotten about that. There had been a lot of things on his mind really. "Thanks! I just...have to make it really hard to get these without teamwork, right? "

She smiled, pointing to the bells in his hand.

"See how there's only two?"

"Eh? Yeah...why only two?" He blinked curiously...there were definitely more than two people on his team.

"It's an exercise meant for a group of three," she explained. "If a team doesn't work well together, they'll fight about who gets the bells, or only be out for themselves in order to get one. But if they do work well together, they'll work together as a group to make sure the bells are gotten, period."

He examined the bells a little. They weren't anything special really, just the average bell you'd find lying around at Christmas...without the kissing enchantment at least. "Why would they fight about who gets the bells?"

Her smile grew a little wider at his question. While there wasn't as much motivation for them to pass this test here, considering how different the circumstances, she could think of a pretty decent motivator for people to want the bells for themselves.

"Because you're going to tell them that if they don't get one, they don't get to eat today."

He looks surprised at her suggestion. "We can do that to them?!"

It seemed so cruel...

She gave him a flat look.

"We're not actually going to do that. I said you're going to tell them that."

"Oh..."

He glanced at her again. Wait that didn't..."How will that encourage teamwork?"

"It'll help us figure out who already does work best together. If they have a personal motivation for wanting the bell to themselves, but still realize that they have to work together for anyone to get it, then they'll make a good team."

Ino let out a little sigh, recalling the mission to infiltrate the Navy prison not too long ago. "The problem with infiltrating the prison before and why it went so badly is because nobody was interested in pursuing the goal of getting everyone out of there. They just went for their friends, broke the formation and blew our cover."

Yuan was grateful that others had taken over the organizing and motivation of the castle residents. Not because he wasn't confident in his abilities, but he'd begun to notice that his style didn't quite match up with the civilians of the castle. The Renegades had been less formal than a true military, but organized along similar lines, and it was hard sometimes to remember not to run the Patrol the same way.

And in truth, even in the Renegades, he'd left most of the actual managing troops to others when he could, only stepping in when he felt like it or when a higher authority was needed. The difference here was that he wasn't directly in charge of the people leading the troops. It felt strange, but...not in a bad way. The responsibility was on more shoulders than just his own, now.

So when he walked into the ballroom, he was attending as himself, and not as Lord Yuan. It didn't mean he'd take orders from just anyone, but for the time being, he would be observing and helping, not leading.
