With all kind of discussion going on in your head, you never really realize how quiet everything actually is, until a real sound breaks it. So, there was a bit of a jump and some slight bewilderment before he placed the voice to Willow, and blinked himself out of his mire of thoughts.
"Oh, uh. I guess so. If that's your way--" nodding toward the elevator "--then yes, it looks like it."
It was only when she looked at Billy that it occurred to Willow she had done the asking out thing, only to get distracted and follow up with a nice, long bout of not talking.

She was the person, now. The person in the scenarios that she and Buffy were always complaining about. Way to go, Willow. Billy probably thought she lost his ---
Well, whatever was lost in this particular case. They were both still staring at the elevator. She should probably talk, now.
"Where else were you going? After my way, I mean."
Since she had done the asking out thing, he'd left it to her to follow up. ...And then there was the whole getting distracted with strengthening evil alliances and designing a new nefarious invention, of course. There was some of that too.
"Um. Well, I was originally thinking the kitchen..." But already his resolve on that decision was wavering. "But maybe the library is a better idea." As if she'd been part of the discussion in his head.
