Nina reenters the stage with Wesley following behind. It is a pas de deux between the now ghostly Giselle and Albrecht, weighed by regret. The lifts and turns are impeccable; in death she is freed from gravity, barely skimming the surface of the stage to rest against his back like a shadow, and forgives him.

The curtain closes then opens for the bow.

Harley has to blink when the curtain reopens. It takes her a while to remember to applaud, but then she does so with gusto. Ballet's never been something to interest her too much--much too delicate, much too sweet--but even she can admire skill when she sees it. And Nina makes it look so easy. If her mother hadn't forced her to go to ballet classes for a while and she hadn't been forced to endure the torment of trying to dance on tiptoes, she'd think anyone could get up and do what Nina just did.

Despite everything else that had been going on with him lately, Angel made it a point to attend Nina's recital. After all, he was kind of the guest of honor. How bad would it look if he didn't show up when he was the one who'd requested a performance in the first place ( ... )

The past two weeks almost had taken an immense toll on the elf. Her mind and heart were still both in shreds from the whole ordeal of losing more and realizing her loss. On top of that, her anger got her in over her head and she got beat bad in a sparring match. Her torso was still bandaged tight as she sat down, nestled warmly in the seat she felt had the best point to observe all of Nina's, and then Wesley's, movements from. Alleyne had never really seen a full ballet before and intended to analyze it, as was her style. It was either this, or get wrapped up in the vampire fight outside, and she wasn't at full strength again; best to lay low until she was recovered enough to back into the fray ( ... )

AFTER THE SHOW; whichswan June 5 2011, 01:17:43 UTC
There are canapes and drinks served at the back. Wake up from your nap to talk about the show or to linger and mingle amongst yourselves.

Considering how rocky things were between her and Wesley, Lilah had almost not attended. But ultimately, her curiosity had gotten the best of her. She was dressed in what would be considered appropriate ballet watching attire. She was currently sipping from a glass of champagne as she wandered around, trying to keep an eye open for anyone of interest to talk to.

She usually has Thomas or the other dancers to do the talking for her, but there is only her this time. So, one drink in hand, she approaches the impressive woman, taking a deep breath before speaking up. "Hi," she clears her throat. "Uhm. Thanks for coming."

Lilah smiled at the girl, but it was more predatory than kind. "I had nothing better to do so I figured, why not?" She said with a shrug of her shoulders. There was some truth to the statement, but Lilah had mostly said it to be a jab.

The changing room is just a vanity enclosed by black curtains. A shout out would be appreciated before you enter.

At least now she understands why he said no.

And while that's high on her list of priorities at the moment, Fred still has a stop that needs to be made first. Acknowledging she'll never be one for parties or crowds, she navigates her way through the gathering towards a space that she presumes has been tucked away for Nina's use.

Fred clears her throat briefly, the only announcement that comes to mind without any doors to knock on. In her hands she's holding a bouquet of flowers. She's been to enough performances of the Nutcracker over the years, and the image of the Sugar Plum Fairy stepping forward to claim her roses always lingered.

"Nina?"

She is a figure more somber than the Sugar Plum Fairy, more of a tragic heroine than a fairy godmother, but she does step out still in her white Giselle costume. Her face turns into a smile at the sight of Fred, though a careful eye might notice the slightest hesitation. It is hard, but she is trying.

"Fred. I'm so happy to see you here."

Fred notices the whisper of hesitation in Nina's stance, but takes in to account she's all but invaded the other woman's dressing room.

"It was lovely. Has anyone told you how lovely it was yet? Has everyone told you -- or, of course everybosy's told you that. Because it was. And I'm just rambling now aren't I..."

Wesley's unexpected appearance in the encore still lingered, though not in a bad way. She chooses a smile over more words.

Well, maybe a few more. Fred holds out the roses.

"Here. These are for you."
