Having hidden her face against his chest during the entire escape, too dizzy to trust herself to look up, Tomoe flinches at the sound of her name. It still feels like they're moving, and her stomach threatens to rebel several times over. It is difficult to know if she is about to throw up, or simply pass out ( ... )

His expression twitches, relief threatening to betray his mask of calm, she is still conscious at the very least, that is good. It gladdens him to know he did not jump into the lion's den for nothing, that despite the burning feeling in his legs and the thunderous sound in his head, he managed to save one person."The town is under attack," Altaïr turns his attention to their surroundings, amber eyes looking for a door, some place for them both to rest. "I would assume it is a mass loss of some kind, judging by the sudden shift in temperament with some of the assailants." Ah, there is one. He forces his legs to move again, hissing as the muscles protest with more burning pain, heading towards the door. Awkwardly he pushes it open with his back, eyesight shifting to check for hostiles and a moment later he pushes into the house (empty, the residents most likely rant from the encroaching danger). No time is wasted in putting her down on a couch, his actions careful and slow as to not aggravate her injuries ( ... )

As he leaves to tend to something she can't quite follow at the moment, Tomoe strains to sit back up, leaning forward to press her fingers to her temples as she attempts to process. A mass loss? That...would make the most sense. She had assumed Abel was under one, but just how many others?

Her hand goes to her throat again, but the blood is already drying. It's a good sign, this she knows. Tentatively she touches her sides and lower back. She just appears to be bruised, fortunately. Nothing serious. But her hair tie is gone, she's missing a shoe, she has blood on her kimono... No doubt she looks a mess, and she's still having to control her urge to lose whatever food she might have in her.

"My journal..."

It's gone. That's right. She had dropped it when he...Abel had grabbed her. It brings a small, barely visible shudder out of her, before her eyes go slightly wider and she looks to what Altair is doing ( ... )

He doesn't stop, in what he is doing, until he finds a suitable chair to wedge underneath the handle of the front door. From there he moves to a window, fingers parting the curtain just enough to see the street outside--empty, good, it means he had managed to move away from the fighting instead of towards it. It had been hard to judge where he was running in the beginning, he simply ran, using sharp corners to lose the white haired man ( ... )

As if to prove him wrong, she stands, though her sorry state is only too obvious when she's forced to limp due to her missing geta. She is quick to dismiss the remaining one, nudging it beneath the couch. Even like this, she is not without grace. There is no lurching, only wavering.

It is much the same for her. Old habits do indeed die hard.

"What are you suggesting?"

Of course Tomoe is not slow. Even in her muddled state, it's obvious what he means. Stay in this place for the night? A strange, western home? Who knew where the residents were? She didn't know how secure this place was, or how clean it was. And she couldn't remain here without knowing that Nanako and Kenshin at least were safe.

Indignantly, she gives a slight shake of her head, moving to hobble edge past him and towards the door. "I will not stay here like a refugee while others are in need."
