It's been a few days, and Alan still has yet to find his pager - it must really be his loss, as earlier theorized by Maya and Courage. But despite the fact that he'd slept with the thing for twenty years and had now lost it, what has really bothered him is the insanity of everything that's happening - the residents of the castle, who range from talking ponies to dark little boys floating through walls and floors; the castle's ability to take things and grant wishes; the new knowledge of the Grid and its oddly human-like programs. Nothing makes sense here anymore
( ... )
A grin slowly made its way over Alan's face as the plan begins to develop. Ten minutes - why, that would be easy! And Clu wouldn't know what was going on until it was too late, until after Tron had already been fixed.
"I can do that," he said with an eager nod; he knew that Flynn could make nearly anything happen, especially after all he'd heard about the Grid. "We'll have to do it quietly, though - I'm glad those thought bubbles are finally gone." The fewer amount of people involved, the more efficiently this plan would run.
He paused. "When's the soonest we can get Tron and Clu alone?" He was all for caution, but the sooner they acted, the better.
"See, that's the tricky part, because it's not just them. We've got a third variable in all of this." The wheels are turning, and he rubs the heel of his hand back and forth across his cheek, the day-old stubble rasping against his palm. CLU's pet virus is going to be a problem. "Rinzler isn't CLU's only crony. There's a virus, too. Unpredictable as they come."
It takes him a moment to realize that this 'Rinzler' isn't someone he's heard of. "Rinzler?" He asks, not associating the name with his reprogrammed security program.
And a virus? Well, that's unfortunate. He'd suggest Sam, but the last time he saw the boy, he was on a crutch - not in the best shape for any sort of prank. "What are the chances that the virus would find out?" He asks. Maybe Rinzler and the virus, though both followers of Clu, didn't associate with each other outside of that.
"That's the shiny new name our boy CLU's picked out for Tron," he said, actually catching his mistake before Alan even said anything. "But let's stick with 'Tron', huh?"
Flynn drops his arms back into his lap, hands dangling between his knees as he leans forward. "I couldn't tell ya what kind of relationship these guys have. Might be worth looking into before we make a move."
He nodded - Tron sounded better to him anyway. Rinzler was just...wrong. And he agreed that it would be best to figure out all the factors before they acted - it wasn't as if they could simply stay away from the top floor and be safe, like they had when working against Dillinger.
"That may be our best bet. Do Sam and Quorra know anything?" He wanted to stick with people that he trusted - others might leak the plan, as Kevin had noted earlier.
Flynn thinks on this for a minute. Both parties have been guilty of keeping him in the dark about some pretty vital information, but at this point, he doesn't know if they'd have any reason to do it again.
"If anybody on our side knows anything, it'll be Quorra." Not that he's eager to put her on the spot after he'd confronted her about Tron. But if it's gotta be done, it's gotta be done.
Alan nods - Quorra it is. He smooths his pants down before grabbing his journal from the table. "Let's find out where she is - how do you spell her name?" He flips the journal open and takes a pen from his breast pocket, ready to write a filter.
Alan filters his message to Quorra (He can't help but to think about how odd her name is, but she's a program, an ISO, not a human, after all), nodding again as he acquiesces to Flynn's addition: Quorra, could you meet me in my room, please? I'm in room 2111. Kevin and I need to speak with you.
With that, he caps his pen, replacing it in his breast pocket and leaning back to wait. "All set."
As soon as the message appears in Quorra's journal, she's on her way. She arrives in just under ten minutes, calling to them as she knocks, "Hellooo! I'm here now."
Well, that was quick! He'll be glad to get this information session out of the way so they can make do with their plans. Alan closes his journal at the knock and slightly familiar voice, setting the book on the arm of his chair. He stands to answer the door.
"Thanks for coming so quickly, Quorra," he says with a friendly smile. He steps to the side so that she can enter. "Come on in, make yourself comfortable." Thankfully, a third chair is there; any more visitors and he'd have to wish one up.
Though he lets Alan answer his own door, Flynn is on his feet to greet Quorra anyway. He offers her a lopsided smile, rakes a hand back through his hair, and then nods at the extra chair.
Quorra sits primly on the chair, folding her hands in her lap and looking expectantly at the two men. She's not sure why they've called her here, but she's happy for the summons all the same--Alan is a looming, fascinating figure of myth in her mind due to Flynn's stories about him and, of course, she always likes to be near Flynn himself. "What's happening?"
Alan settles back in his chair with a sigh, glancing at Kevin as if to ask how much they should tell her. He doesn't know her as well as his friend does, friendly though she is. So he settles with just a question.
"What do you know about Clu and the virus he works with?"

Flynn waits for Alan pluck the pen from his pocket and ready it above the page before spelling the name out for him.
"You can let her know I'm here," he adds.

"Even when we were buddy-buddy, he didn't talk about his plans for Jal-Abraxas or Rinzler. I think the better informed we are, the better."
