One blunt, demanding message and a glimmer of light later, Cupid was once again standing at the former God King's side. This time he'd come prepared, his infamous bow in hand as he looked over toward the man currently seated alone with his books. It was hardly the way Cupid would have opted to spend his time (reading was kind of a bore okay), but hey if she was into that sort of thing then who was he to judge?

"I wouldn't have pinned you as someone who went for the scholarly type." Illyria might have intimidated some, but he actually felt a lot more at ease around her than he did most mortals. Sure, she could stand to brush up on her social skills, but it wasn't like he was going to hold that against her. He was just happy to to feel needed again.

Wes happened to look up from his books at the sound of someone speaking a short distance away. He turned to glance over and spied the tell-tale blue and burgundy form of Illyria (standing with someone he didn't recognise). The sight of her still struck him with about a dozen different emotions. His countenance immediately darkened, and he picked up a tome from the table and stalked away, moving deeper into the stacks.

His urge to kill her had lessened considerably, at least. Especially after Spike's defense of her, and his own progress with Fred. But it didn't mean he was in any kind of mood to converse with the God-King. After all, she was still the harbinger of death as far as he was concerned and he didn't particularly want to be reminded of that.

"He pleases me," was her eloquent response to Cupid. His appearance or demeanor didn't matter so much as the fact that he'd been her guide with the world was strange and unsettling to her. More than it was now, anyway. He was above and beyond superior to that pathetic excuse for a qwa'ha xahn who brought her back.

His attempting to go away only prompted her to start marching after him, not looking back or caring if Cupid was following or not.

"You will no longer ignore me."

Different strokes. Cupid didn't follow after her so much as ... roll his eyes and vanish in the same glittering light that had marked his arrival. So far everything was playing out in a way that matched the situation as Illyria had described it. From Cupid's perspective, the castle really had stripped this Wesley guy of any affection he once held toward her. Whether he felt they were a good fit or not didn't really matter as much as helping them to find again what they once had together.

When he reappeared ahead of both of them, he did so in a way that allowed only Illyria to see him. It was usually a lot easier to fire off a shot at someone if they didn't see it coming. So long as Illyria could keep Wesley stationary long enough, this thing would be over before Wesley knew what hit him.
