He'd been holed up in the manor for too long. Returning to the town for something other than his usual 'chores' felt nice. Very nice, actually. The fact that he was going to meet up with an ally that wasn't in some sort of grand distress, or holding some other stressing obligation over his head, was even nicer.
The mood that Delirium had been in when they spoke intrigued him to absolutely no end. ...He only hoped that she would still be in said mood, and remember that they had talked at all, by the time he reached her.
When he did finally arrived at the square, and picked up the gnarl of her presence sitting over at the fountain, he couldn't help but smile to himself. Perfect.
Wandering over, he stopped a little distance back, and took a moment to simply watch.
Delirium let him watch for a moment, then turned and looked at him over her shoulder. Her eyes shone with a light most people didn't get to see, the silver flecks in her blue eye swimming around and around her pupil.
Pulling her hand out of the fountain, Del sucked on her forefinger thoughtfully as she moved all the way around, looking straight at Spikey with her head cocked at an angle.
This mood of hers, it wasn't common. But it was a very important part of her, twisting in the background all the time. Malicious, angry, and cruel; this twist of her personality was not one most people would like. It peeked out at the oddest of times, with suggestions on opportunities most people would never think about.
And it's irregularity within her, the way her demeanor could change so much, was probably one of the most off-putting parts of her...
But Del didn't think about that sot of thing. Self reflection wasn't something she generally needed, when she already understood herself and how other saw her.
He understood most people with the sort of microscopic scrutiny that comes from intense and automatic observation-- understanding mood and habit through acutely sensing every little gesture, every synapse. It is a cold and involuntary thing. With most people, he can't help but understand, tapped into every one of their motions and predictable cycles of behavior
( ... )
Del flicked her hand about a bit, waving the water still on it out into the air.
"I got some coins." Nudging a can by her foot, she caused the change clank around inside. Getting things like that was common for Del, people usually thought she was homeless, there had been this..."One time a man gave me a can and it was full of food but I just gave it to Barnabas because he was hungrier than me anyway, and really his paws are much smaller than mine."
Having been watching the clouds with her tangent, she turned back to Pointy and curled her tongue around the mouthful of screams that wanted to chew her teeth.
