Percy discovered something about castles: he hated towers. Or more specifically, he hated climbing them. The first time he had to go up there to get to his room, he was a little uneasy. He was sure being so high would send a lightning bolt straight into his room.
But Zeus wasn't here. Instead, his punishment was walking up a bunch of stairs. Which was almost worse. So he took the elevator whenever he could.
He didn't recognize the Muzak the elevator played as he rode up. A song from another world, maybe? It sure was catchy. He rode up to where Sora said the Treehouse was and got out.
Because he chose to climb up the stairs, Harry arrived much later than he promised Percy he would. But Hedwig seemed to be in a much better mood now that she had time to stretch her wings.
When he reached the top of the stairs, the snowy owl hooted a greeting at Percy and Harry grinned.
"Sorry, we're late," he said. "Is anyone else up at the Treehouse?"
He heard the owl hooting first, and turned to grin and wave at Harry. The owl was beautiful and Percy had a sudden wish that Annabeth were here. He put that thought out of his mind and focused on the really cool Treehouse they were about to explore.
"Don't think so," he answered. "It's pretty quiet. But hey, more fun for us!" And he grinned wider.
