Molotov, on the other hand, didn't even wake up until four thirty. She went about her morning leisurely, wishing for a cup of coffee and flipping through her journal while she waited. She was from the land of cold, and she knew better than anyone that the first step in molding a proper soldier was to deprive them of comfort.
It was nearly five thirty before Molotov headed out to the duck pond. She figured that ninety minutes of the morning chill would be enough, and she strapped on her weapons before calmly walking out of the castle and into the courtyard. And then she climbed into a tree.
Silently moving from tree to tree, Molotov found Fujin quickly, and took her in for a moment, noting that she also seemed to be missing her left eye. For no real reason, she felt pleased by this, and spent a few seconds congratulating herself on an apprentice well-chosen -- any woman who was also missing an eye was sure to be the right choice.
And then Molotov launched herself out of the tree and at Fujin.
For the most part, Molotov and her approach went unnoticed. Had Fujin progressed a little farther in her training back in Balamb, she might have been better suited at detecting her. As it stood though, she'd only completed courss dealing with basic combat, small unit tactics, and the use of para-magic. So, not surprisingly, she didn't notice Molotov until the woman was already descending on her. And even then it was only the rustle of the tree's leaves following the launch that got her attention. Consequently, Fujin had little time to react in any way other than diving out of the way, drawing the missile blade from her back in one fluid movement as she got back to her feet.
And then paused. While Fujin was more than prepared to consider her overdue, this might be her instructor...she hadn't actually met Molotov, so Fujin had no idea what she looked like. She'd need to determine whether or not it was her before she could do anything else...mainly due to the combat restrictions the other woman had set in place over the journal."...
Molotov landed on her feet, exactly where Fujin had previously been standing, and slid into a fight stance, her fists balled. "Weapons down, defend yourself," she called out, authoritatively, then launched herself again.
