"A fight." He glanced out the door, then closed it. "Kissed the wrong person, you know?" Mentioning that the wrong person was Buffy and she had a lot more than a hurt nose to show for it was probably a bad idea.

"I'd just like to lay low for a bit, you know? No one'll look for me here."

He should probably hide her journal, too. Buffy would definitely spread the word.

"So how've you been?"

"Kissed the wrong person....right."

It wasn't that she didn't believe him. There were more than enough people and personalities around them to garner that kind of reaction. It just was another reminder of the darker side of where they all lived.

She might've kissed the wrong person too. But all she did was fall down after.

Fred reached for the dressing down she'd been provided from where it was draped on her bed, slipped into it and belted it securely at her waist.

"And you think they're going to come looking for more?"

Spike shook his head. "It's a jealousy thing, you know? Can't predict these people. It'll probably blow over quick enough, but it'd be nice, you know, if you don't mind." Ah, there was the journal, on a little table. He starts walking over casually, under the guise of looking around. "Not that I can't take him," he adds quickly. "Just got a bit of a migraine problem whenever I try and hit humans." Nothing like that actually happened, of course, and Spike has no chip to stop him from hurting people, but spinning a believable tale that makes him look sympathetic is important.
