Slipping their journals into a makeshift satchel, privately wanting to find a real messenger bag while in town. Lois held the pouch of coins in her hand, eying it mistrustfully. Not that she believed the coins were inherently... bad, she simply didn't think this much coin money could really be worth what it was.

She hadn't done more than make a small noise of amusement at the declaration of this other woman to the timing of events. Truthfully, Lois had planned on venturing into the city today anyhow; having a version of company could be informative.

Besides, if it got annoying, she could always just... leave.

Of course, as she approached the only woman she saw who looked like she was waiting, glancing down at her watch, Lois held out her hand. "Lois Clark, of... formerly of the Daily Planet. Are you the young woman who wanted to venture into the city today?"

Finally, someone arrived! Excel couldn't help but be disappointed at the turnout number, but one was better than none.

"That would be me," Excel said, shaking her hand. "First Commanding Officer Excel of ACROSS, at your service!" She reached into her pocket and pulled out the map she had created of the city. She unfolded it and lay it out on the bench where she was sitting.

Lois had scanned over the map, her paleness ironically unrelated to the dubious morals displayed by her erstwhile companion. (A woman did what she needed, in the efforts of a greater goal. Nothing outright illegal... Most the time. Certainly all in the name of truth, good, and justice, or something similar.) Her actual reason was quickly suppressed; she'd given a sort of tight-lipped, encouraging smile of attention to the woman as she stumbled through her IOU explanation.

Excel was an odd sort of intense. She almost seemed over-explanatory, with all sorts of reassurances Lois noted she would have otherwise taken for a version of granted. Then again, she thought caustically, she wasn't one to plan on... bicycles.

She supposed there weren't things like taxi's and cars here anyhow. Just like the lack of elevators. "Time seems to be the one things we have in great supply," she stated, hoping she remembered enough about... biking to not make a fool of herself. Lois hated making a fool of herself; by sheer willpower, she would ( ... )

Excel grunted. What was wrong with her map? Three days of researching and now she was being asked whether she had any other maps? Inconceivable ( ... )

Lois clutched onto Excel reflexivly while she thought of how unpleasant it was going to be dying like this. Hurtling down a hill, on a bike, to crash wherever was most convenient, losing limbs or life on the way down?

She just knew bicycles were uncivil!

"Don't these things have brakes?!" Hell, even the taxi's did, not that it seemed to matter much most the time!

But that was really the least of Lois's concerns given how they were hurtling downward and there were three probably places they would end up:

Plastered to a wall.

On the ground.

In the water.

The last only occurred to her as they neared the hill's bottom and she sighted the break in the buildings which led to the --- she didn't know what it was. Lois had never studied city geography!
