Of all people to show up next from their world, it just had to be Jet. Katara couldn't even begin to describe how frustrating his arrival was. Why was he hiding his death from her? And to make matters worse, he was about to meet with Zuko for a fight. What was it with this place and people wanting to fight all the time?!

She ran out of the castle as fast as she could, wanting to get their before either of them arrvied. They weren't going to fight if Katara could help it. Figuring they wouldn't fight around the village, she made sure not to wander that far, and instead ventured off to a wide, open field. She stopped immediately in her tracks at the sight of Zuko, and hesitanty took a step forward.

"You.. don't have to fight him," she said softly. Katara wasn't only trying to protect Zuko. She wanted to protect both of them. Him and Jet. She couldn't help but worry. If Zuko's swords were imbalanced, were Jet's fighting abilities also affected somehow?

She could only hope they'd actually listen to her and stop this nonsense.

Jet arrived not long after Katara, and though he glanced at her he gave no other sign of acknowledgment. From past experience he realized that she would take offence to this, but somehow he couldn't find himself caring. Instead he moved past her, stopping when he caught better sight of Zuko ( ... )

Zuko had glanced at Katara, and had given her something of a reassuring smile. He didn't know why he did it, but it came, and he shrugged it off as him attempting to be charming. He was 17, and did have a wealth of hormones at this age, he supposed.

"You're right, I don't, but I can't back away from him either," he admitted with a tinge of regret. Sure, he could have shrugged this idiot off, but first, he had insulted his Uncle, and then he has the nerve to doubt him.

Zuko couldn't back down from that kind of challenge. When Jet did arrive, and start spewing his talk of taking it 'easy', and he simply glared. He walked away from Katara, trying to keep her away from the fight. The Waterbender might not be weak, but Zuko felt something...akin to a crush, he supposed on her, and so he was going to be a gentleman, and get away from her. Besides, he didn't trust Jet to be careful around anyone else ( ... )

As Katara expected, neither of them planned on backing down from this fight. She tried to return Zuko's smile, but it only fell back to that worried expression. They were both good fighters. Anything could happen at this point. And before she could say anything else, Katara clenched her fists as she saw Jet just walk past her, without even a word.

It looked like Jet really meant it when he said he didn't have to listen to her. He wasn't going to acknowledge or talk her until this fight was over!

"You're not going to say anything to me?!" she yelled at his back, not caring that he had already begun talking to Zuko. This was crazy. And unnecessary.

What was she suppose to do now? She bit her lip nervously when they moved somewhat away from her, and exchanged a few words to start this. "I'm not going to intervene, I'm not going to intervene," she thought to herself. She regretted not doing anything more to stop this. But then .. Maybe this was suppose to happen?

She fell silent and just waited.

Right on cue, Katara. Was she this predictable before? No, she was likely only this way because of how he'd acted, when you were ignored it was logical to feel rejected and angry. It was hard to see what she'd do next, or how she'd take the fight. He wanted to say she was going to try to stop it, but from how she stood to the side unmoving it appeared she was going to observe. Heh, well, that was good, if she didn't get involved he wouldn't have to retaliate. Hurting Katara was the last thing he wanted ( ... )
